This time we bring you the appointment and recruitment round-ups from earlier this week that happened along the way:
ILO elects former Prime Minister of Togo as new Director-General
Earlier this week, The International Labour Organization elected Gilbert F. Houngbo, the former Prime Minister of Togo, as its 11th Director-General, to take office in October this year. He will be the first African to take the post.
Houngbo is currently President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), a position he has held since 2017. He served as Prime Minister of Togo from 2008-2012, in the period after the massive internal conflict over the 2005 Togolese presidential election, and oversaw the extensive economic, political, and social reforms that followed.
Ola appoints Georgina Owens to strengthen UK Board
Ola announced last week that Georgina Owens will join the Ola UK board as an independent non-executive director.
Owens brings decades of senior technology and IT leadership experience from high-growth and major established businesses across multiple sectors.
FedEx CEO Frederick Smith to step down; Raj Subramaniam named new CEO
Last week, FedEx Corporation announced that founder, chairman, and CEO Frederick W. Smith will be stepping back from the CEO role as of 1 June 2022. Smith, now aged 77, will become Executive Chairman instead, overseeing board governance and global issues.
Raj Subramaniam, President and Chief Operating Officer, will take the helm in Smith's place. He has been named CEO-elect with immediate effect and will officially take the full role on 1 June. The COO role will not be backfilled, but the company has not disclosed any further plans for that position.
Telstra appoints CFO Vicki Brady as new CEO
Earlier this week, Telstra announced that CFO Vicki Brady will assume the responsibilities as the company’s next CEO on September 1, 2022.
Brady joined Telstra in 2016 and has held the role of Group Executive, Consumer and Small Business, in addition to her current role of CFO and Group Executive responsible for Strategy, which she was appointed to in July 2019.
